Malang Hotels
One of the most beautiful cities in East Java Province of Indonesia, Malang is also the second largest city. During colonial times, Malang was known as the loveliest town in all of South East Asia and therefore a popular destination for people from all over Europe. Its history dates back to the Mataram Kingdom and one of the largest volcanoes in Java – Mount Bromo is found here. A major attraction for all visitors, the volcano ash has made the soil fertile and good for yield. The Malang Plain is an area where volcanic craters explosions take place; however, the volcanic area is low in height and doesn’t rise above the farms and villages surrounding the area.
Famous for the cool mountain air and the neighbouring verdant country sides of Tumpang, Batu, Singosari and Turen add to the attraction. Malang has developed slowly and steadily both in terms of economics as well as population and tourism. A city full of flowers in many hues and shapes, Malang is also famous for the local Apple fruit called Malang Apple and many sprawling tea plantations.
One of the more popular hotels in Malang is the Tugu Malang Hotel. Located in the centre of the old Malang town, the hotel offers ample views of the monument representative of Indonesia’s freedom struggle and a lovely lotus pond park. The hotel is equipped with all modern amenities that any travel weary visitor may require. On display in the hotel is a priceless and largish collection of antiques that belong to the Javanese Babah Peranakan times.
